The pursuit of beauty turned into an absolute nightmare at a beauty salon in Nice. A 25-year-old woman died from cardiac arrest, struck down by a sudden illness following an injection of lidocaine, a local anesthetic intended to prepare her for a Botox treatment in her buttocks. Three individuals have been charged in connection with this investigation, which includes charges of manslaughter, endangering others, and practicing medicine without a license. The investigation has brought to light the clandestine practices that are plaguing the beauty industry, which operates without any health regulations.

The investigation conducted by the judicial police has revealed the extent of a mafia-like and completely opaque system. The 36-year-old woman claiming to be an esthetician who committed the fatal act had no training or legal authorization to handle such products, having engaged in this trafficking of medical procedures since at least 2022 within an establishment lacking any official administrative status. The salon manager, also imprisoned, as well as the husband of the main suspect, complete this damning legal picture where everything was designed to circumvent even the most basic health and safety regulations.

The deadly dangers of clandestine surgery

The searches carried out at the premises uncovered an arsenal of syringes, medications, and products intended for clandestine injection, a far cry from the manicure and hairdressing services advertised in the establishment's window. Health authorities reiterate that this tragedy highlights a reality long denounced by professionals in the field, who regularly warn of the deadly dangers of these clandestine cosmetic surgery practices performed by individuals completely unfamiliar with any understanding of anatomy.

Faced with the resurgence of these mafia-like networks that thrive on social media and in makeshift clinics, plastic surgery professionals are calling for a zero-tolerance policy and immediate administrative closures. This latest tragedy, in addition to grieving a family, underscores the absolute urgency for authorities to crack down severely on these bogus practitioners before other patients pay with their lives for this illegal pursuit of physical transformation.
