A man and a woman were killed Saturday morning in a shooting in the village of Vorizia, on the Greek island of Crete, local authorities announced. At least ten other people were injured in what police believe to be a family feud.
The suspected gunmen opened fire in the village center, causing panic among residents. A large police presence was deployed to the scene to secure the area and search for the suspects.
A senior Greek police official confirmed that it was "a vendetta between two rival families," a phenomenon still sporadically observed in some remote areas of Crete, where honor disputes can escalate into deadly violence.
The injured were transported to the nearest hospitals, while investigators tried to reconstruct the exact sequence of events of the shooting.
