Burgundy: More than 840 passengers stranded overnight on two Trenitalia TGV trains

More than 840 passengers spent part of the night stranded aboard two Trenitalia TGV trains after a breakdown in Burgundy. The trains, which were traveling towards Paris, remained stuck for more than nine hours before service resumed Saturday morning.

The incident occurred around 23:45 p.m. between the Yonne and Côte-d'Or departments. The two trains were carrying a total of 841 passengers. Faced with this exceptional situation, the prefectures of both departments implemented an assistance plan to deliver water and provide aid to the passengers who remained on board throughout the night.

A breakdown that paralyzed several trains

No evacuations were necessary. Police officers were also deployed to the scene to ensure security and assist with the operations. According to authorities, passengers remained on the trains until service was restored.

In a message posted on the social network X, Trenitalia indicated that the outage was due to an "infrastructure problem." A technical team intervened on site and service resumed around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The incident also caused disruptions and delays to several other train services in the area.
