The Le Week-End beach restaurant, located on the Route des Sanguinaires in Ajaccio, was completely destroyed by fire on Monday night. No injuries were reported, but the prosecutor's office is investigating the possibility of arson.
Patrolling police officers discovered the establishment ablaze around 3 a.m. According to a police source, a witness saw a man arrive on a scooter, set fire to the restaurant, and then flee on foot. CCTV footage reportedly shows two individuals wearing helmets.
An investigation entrusted to the judicial police
The scooter used, reported stolen and equipped with false license plates, was found at the scene with an empty fuel tank. A preliminary investigation has been opened for arson committed by an organized group and the transport of incendiary substances.
This attack comes amid a surge in arson attacks targeting establishments in Corsica. According to the anti-mafia collective Massimu Susini, 80 restaurants have been targeted by arsonists on the island in the last ten years. The Ajaccio prosecutor's office has placed these incidents among its priorities for 2026, alongside organized crime and extortion.
