Three children, aged six months, one year, and four years, were found alone in a hotel room in southern Spain. The children's parents, suspected of having left the hotel to attend a party, were arrested by authorities. Toxicology tests performed on two of the three children revealed positive results for cocaine, further complicating the situation.

A series of similar cases in Europe

This case comes after several similar instances of child abandonment in Europe in recent months. In Portugal, two young French children, aged four and five, were found abandoned by the side of a road by their mother, a self-proclaimed parenting expert, and her partner. In another case, three children were discovered after living for five years in an unsanitary house, their mother delivering food to them only once a month.

The three Spanish children were immediately taken into the care of social services. An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of the abandonment and establish the parents' criminal liability. Spanish authorities are also examining the minors' previous living conditions to assess the duration and extent of any neglect they may have suffered.
