Norway: Haakon VIII delivers his first speech after the death of Harald V

Norway's new king, Haakon VIII, addressed the nation on Saturday for the first time since his accession to the throne. The 53-year-old monarch paid tribute to his father, Harald V, who died on Friday at the age of 89.

Before his first address, the new monarch received the Speaker of Parliament, the President of the Supreme Court, and representatives of the Church of Norway. A period of national mourning was declared following the death of Harald V, who was the longest-reigning European monarch.
