Donald Trump on Friday awarded the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the four crew members of Artemis II, who in April performed a flyby of the Moon setting a new distance record for humanity.

Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen received the highest honor bestowed by the United States in space. The three Americans and the Canadian had participated in NASA's Artemis II mission, which took them around the Moon last April.

This manned flight set a record: no human being had ever traveled so far into space since the Apollo missions. Donald Trump personally presented the Congressional Space Medal of Honor to the four astronauts at the ceremony.

Jeremy Hansen, a member of the Canadian Space Agency, is the first non-American to receive this distinction, created in 1969 to honour outstanding contributions to space exploration.
