Faced with the depletion of American ammunition stocks caused by the Israeli-American war against Iran, the Pentagon ordered arms manufacturers to deliver faster and in larger quantities.

Under Secretary of Defense Steve Feinberg sent a memorandum to arms manufacturers giving them 21 days to explain how they intend to "adopt significantly faster and more ambitious delivery schedules, and/or increase production of critical capabilities."

The tone of the document is unambiguous. "Multi-year development cycles are not acceptable," Feinberg writes. "We must radically accelerate our programs and increase our production capacity now."

This memo, revealed by the Washington Post, highlights the increasing pressure that military operations are placing on American missile reserves. The war against Iran has clearly depleted these stocks to the point of causing tension between President Donald Trump and Pentagon officials over missile supplies.

The order given to manufacturers reflects an operational urgency: the United States is seeking to rebuild its arsenals in much shorter timeframes than those usually imposed by defense industrial cycles.
