Intrusion at Mar-a-Lago: a man shot dead by security forces

In the early hours of February 22, around 1:30 a.m., a man in his twenties was fatally shot by agents of the U.S. Secret Service and a deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office after entering the secure perimeter of the Mar-a-Lago estate, owned by Donald Trumpin Florida.

According to authorities, the individual was spotted near the north gate of the estate. He was carrying what appeared to be a hunting rifle and a jerrycan of fuel. His identity has not been released, as law enforcement indicated that notifying his next of kin was still underway. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

An armed confrontation with law enforcement

According to initial reports, federal agents, assisted by a representative of local law enforcement, confronted the individual after discovering his intrusion into the highly secure area. During the confrontation, shots were fired by law enforcement.

No members of the Secret Service or the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office were injured in the incident. Authorities stated that the shots were fired exclusively by law enforcement officers involved in the response.

No protected persons are present on the site.

Security services confirmed that no one under Secret Service protection was present at Mar-a-Lago at the time of the incident. This clarification was provided to provide context for the operation, as the property is regularly associated with heightened security due to its status and regular occupants.

The exact circumstances of the incident are now the subject of a joint investigation. The individual's profile, his actions before and during the intrusion, any possible motive, and the circumstances surrounding the use of force are being examined by the FBI, the Secret Service, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department.

In accordance with standard procedures, the Secret Service agents involved have been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. Authorities emphasize that this is standard procedure in any incident involving the lethal use of force by law enforcement.
