Donald Trump announced Sunday his intention to report Kristen Welker, host of NBC's Meet the Press , to the Federal Communications Commission. The US president accuses her of having described the results obtained by his candidates in the midterm elections as mixed.

In a post published on Truth Social, the Republican leader accused the journalist of deliberately presenting inaccurate information. He believes this intervention could warrant a reprimand or sanction from the U.S. broadcasting regulator.

New tensions between the White House and the media

This threat comes as the Trump administration intensifies its confrontations with media outlets deemed hostile. Several newsrooms and broadcasting groups have filed lawsuits against the Federal Communications Commission, alleging political pressure that could violate the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Relations between Donald Trump and Kristen Welker were already strained. In June, the president cut short an interview conducted by the journalist after several questions focused on, among other things, American policy toward Iran. NBC had not yet publicly responded to this latest attack.
