Return of the sun in the north, storm warning in the south

This Friday, May 9th, promises to be a mixed bag across France. While the north of the country is enjoying calm, bright weather under the influence of a high-pressure system, the south is facing a more unstable atmosphere. Starting in the morning, the sun is dominating north of the Seine, while clouds are obscuring the sky from the southwest to the Alps and the Mediterranean. Temperatures remain cool at dawn, fluctuating between 5 and 10°C, except along the coast where the mercury is already reaching 13°C.

Thunderstorms expected in the afternoon

The afternoon saw the appearance of storm cells located south of the Loire, extending as far as the Mediterranean. Conversely, the north maintained pleasant conditions, particularly in the Hauts-de-France region, with temperatures reaching 19 to 21°C everywhere, close to seasonal norms. In the evening, the risk of showers persisted in the south, although the instability tended to gradually diminish. The north, meanwhile, remained dry with a light north wind in the English Channel.

The weekend is expected to be milder but unstable, with thunderstorms gradually moving north. The Southwest will remain the region most exposed to these disturbances.
