Zelensky claims that Russia is preparing a major new attack against Ukraine

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday that Ukrainian intelligence services had information indicating that Russia was preparing a new large-scale attack against Ukraine.

In a message posted on Telegram and then in his daily video address, Zelensky assured that Ukrainian forces were on high alert and that air defense systems remained permanently mobilized.

"We have intelligence information that Russia is preparing another large-scale strike," he said, adding that the air force and other units responsible for the defense of the territory were working without interruption to deal with this threat.

This warning comes days after Moscow announced its intention to carry out "systematic strikes" against targets in Kyiv and recommended that foreign diplomats and foreign nationals leave the Ukrainian capital.

Russian authorities are presenting these strikes as a response to a drone attack the previous week targeting a dormitory in the Russian-controlled Luhansk region, an attack that reportedly killed 21 people. Kyiv has denied any involvement in the incident.

Last Sunday, Russian strikes against Kyiv and other Ukrainian regions left at least two dead and dozens injured, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Faced with the threat of a new offensive, Zelensky called on Ukraine's Western allies to accelerate the implementation of air defense agreements and to strengthen sanctions against Russia in order to increase pressure on Moscow.

These statements come amid rising tensions, as both sides continue their military operations and warnings of a possible escalation of the conflict multiply.
