Ukraine: Andriy Yermak, former right-hand man of Zelensky, arrested for corruption

Andriy Yermak, former head of the Ukrainian presidential administration and one of the closest associates of Volodymyr ZelenskyHe was arrested this Thursday morning by the Ukrainian anti-corruption court. The Kyiv High Anti-Corruption Court ordered his pre-trial detention for 60 days, with the possibility of release on bail set at 140 million hryvnias, or approximately $3,2 million.

Investigators from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and the anti-corruption prosecutor's office suspect Yermak of involvement in a vast money laundering scheme involving 460 million hryvnias related to a luxury real estate project near Kyiv. According to the investigation, some of the funds originated from corruption schemes linked to Energoatom, Ukraine's state-owned nuclear energy company. Authorities also allege a kickback system involving several officials close to the government.

A former negotiator for Kyiv with the United States and considered for years to be the second most powerful man in the country after Zelensky, Yermak resigned in November 2025 after a dramatic raid on his home. This departure was part of a broad political "clean-up" aimed at restoring confidence in the Ukrainian presidency.

Upon leaving the courtroom, Andriy Yermak denied all the accusations and announced that he would appeal the decision. He claims he does not have the money to pay his bail and now hopes to obtain help from his family and supporters.
