Le président américain Donald Trump is considering cancelling a series of concerts planned in Washington as part of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of US independence, after several artists withdrew from the lineup.

The event was intended to be one of the highlights of the "Great American State Fair," a large-scale event held on the National Mall between the Capitol and the Washington Monument. The festivities, planned for late June and early July, were to include concerts, exhibits showcasing the different American states, and patriotic celebrations.

However, several artists have announced their withdrawal in recent days. According to American media, some of them claim to have agreed to participate in what they thought was a non-partisan national celebration, before discovering that the event was closely associated with Donald Trump.

Faced with these successive withdrawals, the American president indicated on his social network, Truth Social, that he was considering abandoning the musical program. He mentioned the possibility of replacing the concerts with a large political rally called "America Is Back," focused on his record and political priorities.

Donald Trump also asserted that such a gathering could attract more participants than the originally planned concerts. He suggested that he himself might speak at a major event held in the heart of the nation's capital.

This controversy comes amid growing tensions between the president and a segment of the American cultural world. Several artists and entertainment figures have regularly criticized Donald Trump since his return to the White House, while certain cultural events have become the subject of political debate.

Organizers are currently maintaining part of the program planned for the United States' 250th anniversary celebrations. No final decision has yet been announced regarding the future of the concerts, but the successive withdrawals of artists are complicating the organization of this symbolic event initiated by the American president.

The celebrations of the quarter millennium of American independence are to take place throughout the country during the year 2026 and constitute one of the major national events of the Trump administration.
