Manchester United and England legend Wayne Rooney has revealed that the President of the United States, Donald Trump, had asked him to give football lessons to his son Barron.

Rooney and his wife, Coleen, had previously been invited to attend a birthday party at the White House, where they spent time with Trump.

At the time, Barron was a promising young soccer player and part of the DC United academy.

Rooney said on Sky Bet's The Overlap that Trump had asked him to give his youngest son football lessons.

Videos of Barron playing football had previously circulated on social media, and his playing style and physical stature had been compared to that of former England star Peter Crouch, given that both are 6ft 7ins (around 2 metres) tall.

The recently fired Plymouth coach added: "When we first met, Trump asked me to tutor his son in Washington, D.C. Afterward, we played a round of golf together, along with Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York."

Barron has recently gained attention for his height and his role in his father's election campaign, becoming an American icon.
