Storm Herminia is causing serious disruption to rail networks, with a total interruption of traffic between Rennes and Quimper. According to SNCF, flooding at Saint-Senoux Pléchâtel station in Ille-et-Vilaine has made train traffic impossible. TGV trains to Brittany are now limited to Rennes. The restart is scheduled for Tuesday 28 January from 7am, subject to the water level in the Vilaine dropping.

In addition to the Rennes-Quimper axis, storm Herminia also impacted the line between Angers and Nantes. Floods and heavy rain slowed down or even cancelled trains connecting Paris to Croisic and Orléans to Nantes. However, traffic between Angers and Nantes has gradually resumed since midday this Monday, while the total shutdown remains between Rennes and Redon.

SNCF recommends that travelers postpone their trips and assures that it is closely monitoring the evolution of weather conditions to adjust its transport plan.

On the other hand, the Normandy lines seem to have been spared. From the Saint-Lazare station, journeys to Caen, Le Havre, Cherbourg and Rouen were operating normally in the middle of the day.

This situation once again illustrates the fragility of infrastructure in the face of climatic hazards, while storm Herminia continues to disrupt the daily lives of residents of western France.
