Édouard Philippe is accelerating the structuring of his presidential campaign. According to information from BFMTV, the Horizons political bureau will be expanded on Tuesday, September 8, to officially become the candidate's campaign committee. The new body will bring together not only the party's long-standing members, but also ministers, members of parliament, and prominent elected officials who have recently joined the former Prime Minister's campaign.
This transformation comes after several weeks marked by a series of endorsements from beyond Horizons. Gérald Darmanin , Maud Bregeon, Mathieu Lefèvre, and Benjamin Haddad, all from or close to the presidential bloc, notably chose Édouard Philippe for 2027. Benjamin Haddad, Minister Delegate for Europe, presented him at the end of August as the "best-placed" candidate to unite the center and broaden support to the right.
A campaign that aims to go beyond Horizons
The committee is scheduled to meet Tuesday afternoon in Paris. The goal is to gradually transform the party founded by Édouard Philippe into a much broader campaign structure. Horizons' current leadership already includes prominent figures such as Christophe Béchu, Gilles Boyer, Christelle Morançais, Arnaud Robinet, and Christian Estrosi.
This strategy of rallying support has been pursued by Philippe's camp for several months: it aims to establish the former Prime Minister as the candidate capable of uniting the right and center and, according to his supporters, avoiding a second round between Marine Le Pen and Jean-Luc Mélenchon . Édouard Philippe, however, still has to contend with the competing candidacy of Gabriel Attal and with Bruno Retailleau, who also refuses to withdraw.
