NATO has pledged to urgently provide air defense systems to Ukraine following a Russian attack in which Kyiv failed to intercept any ballistic missiles. Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Moscow is seeking to massively increase its missile production before winter.
The NATO Secretary General said the Alliance was working to provide Ukraine with the air defenses it "urgently needs," after Ukrainian forces failed to shoot down any of the ballistic missiles fired by Russia in an attack on Wednesday.
During a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council dedicated to winter resilience, the Ukrainian president warned of a potential increase in Russian missile production in the coming months. He called on his Western allies to increase deliveries of Patriot interceptors.
Zelensky did not rule out the possibility that delays in missile deliveries by Western countries were "intended to make Ukraine, so to speak, more willing to compromise" in the context of potential peace negotiations with Moscow. This statement underscores growing tension between Kyiv and some of its partners over the pace of military support.
