Seven suspects handed over to the justice system

The seven traffickers arrested were handed over to the justice system in Martinique after their detention. This operation is part of the fight against drug trafficking networks that use Atlantic sea routes to transport drugs from South America to Europe. The French Navy has resources deployed in the Caribbean region to monitor and intercept these trafficking operations.

This seizure of nearly 3,4 tons represents a significant haul in the fight against international drug trafficking. French authorities regularly reinforce their presence in this strategic area through which large volumes of narcotics transit. The intercepted vessel was sailing without a flag, a common practice among traffickers to evade controls.
