From January 29 to February 2, the classical music festival La Folle Journée celebrates its 30th anniversary by paying tribute to great musical capitals who have marked the history of the classical repertoire. Venice, the birthplace of opera, Vienna, the city of Mozart and Haydn, passing through London, Paris and New York, the festival invites you on a journey through centuries and styles.

A prestigious program

This edition will host 2 artists and will offer nearly 000 concerts, with recognized figures such as the pianist Jonathan Biss and the festival faithful Anne Queffélec, but also young talents like the violinist Theotime Langlois de Swarte and the wonders Arielle Beck and Sophia Liu, born in 2009 and 2008. Since its creation in 1995, more than three million spectatorsattended this unmissable classical music event.

A festival weakened by budget cuts

This year, The festival must deal with the withdrawal of 180 euros in subsidies from the Pays de la Loire region, a consequence of a budget cut of 100 million euros. A decision regretted by Aymeric Seassau, deputy for culture in Nantes, who deplores a "negative signal" for an event of such magnitude.

Despite these constraints, La Folle Journée continues its influence in France and Internationally, with editions at Lisbon, Warsaw, Bilbao and Tokyo. Like every year, Arte to broadcast the closing concert live, bringing together in particular theNice Philharmonic Orchestra, the pianists David Kadouch and Maroussia Gentet, as well as the Moldovan violinist Alexandra Conunova.

An anniversary marked by resilience and musical passion.
