In an interview with JDD This Saturday, Sarah Knafo defended the idea of a right-wing alliance already underway in the European Parliament. The MEP from the Reconquête party believes that the convergence between elected officials from the National Rally (RN), Reconquête, European conservatives, and part of the Republicans (LR) is now making it possible to achieve concrete results, particularly on immigration and the simplification of economic regulations. She therefore calls for an end to the "cordon sanitaire" and the "republican front," which she considers political ploys designed to prevent any right-wing change of power.
On the substance, Sarah Knafo maintains that the differences with the National Rally (RN) remain real, particularly on economic issues. While she asserts that there is "no bad blood" between the two parties, she criticizes Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella for retaining "socialist reflexes," despite a more liberal rhetoric adopted in recent months. She specifically criticizes the RN's positions favoring new taxes on large corporations or "super-profits," arguing that these proposals remain incompatible with a stated policy of tax cuts and economic freedom.
A long-term strategy for 2027
Sarah Knafo nevertheless insists on the need to allow competition between several right-wing forces rather than seeking a "single party." Drawing on the rivalries between Jacques Chirac and Édouard Balladur, or between Giorgia Meloni and Matteo Salvini in Italy, she believes that this competition can actually strengthen political alternation. The MEP also recalls her own success in the European elections in Paris, where she exceeded polling predictions after a whirlwind campaign.
Eric Zemmour's close associate also highlighted the success of her participatory platform, "The Program for France," which has reportedly already gathered several thousand citizen contributions. Sarah Knafo asserts her desire to build "the best possible program" to prepare for the 2027 presidential election, based on proposals submitted by the French people.
When questioned about the criticism leveled by some on the right against the Constitutional Council and the Council of State, Sarah Knafo welcomed the shift in position among certain LR (Les Républicains) officials on these issues. She echoed the long-standing analyses of Éric Zemmour regarding "government by judges" and advocated for more frequent use of referendums, asserting that "the people are the only true Supreme Court."
Finally, the MEP reaffirmed her full support for Éric Zemmour's candidacy in 2027. Comparing his potential return to that of Donald Trump in the United States, she believes that the French "will not have a hundred opportunities to elect a man of his caliber." She sees herself, for her part, as the architect of the project and the program designed to prepare for the next presidential election.
