Paris 2024 Olympic Village

Le Dugny Olympic Village, designed to accommodate some of the athletes of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, then converted into residential housing, is the subject of controversy over its summer. According to testimonies, some of the housing already shows signs of insalubrity, despite being supposed to be brand new. Since moving in on December 17, 2024, some residents have reported problems of insalubrity, including the presence of mold and water leaks.

As a reminder, the Dugny media village, located in Seine-Saint-Denis, was designed to house more than 1 journalists and technicians during the Games, with the aim of transforming these infrastructures into around 500 apartments after the event, in order to increase the social diversity of the city.

The list of problems encountered is already long. Several apartments show traces of mold on the walls, a problem often linked to water infiltration or poor ventilation. Tenants have reported water leaks in ceilings and walls, which could exacerbate structural problems. Moisture problems are also deplored: poor insulation or construction defects could be the cause, making certain spaces difficult to live in. Finally, many Criticisms are made about the quality of construction.

These defects raise questions about the tight construction deadlines and the quality of the materials used.
