Strike at La Tribune: journalists mobilize in response to a restructuring plan and a merger with BFM Business

The journalists at La Tribune have decided to continue their strike on Tuesday, following a first day of action. This decision, overwhelmingly approved at the end of a works council meeting, comes as concerns remain high regarding the reorganization plan being led by CMA Media.

At the heart of the conflict is a job protection plan linked to the merger with BFM Business. According to employee representatives, this plan calls for the elimination of all current newsroom positions, some 56 journalists, in order to then create 32 new positions within Next Interactive. Employees consider this prospect brutal and fear that the publication will ultimately be completely absorbed.

Journalists denounce a risk to pluralism in economic information and demand guarantees, particularly regarding job security and the definition of a clear editorial vision. For its part, management defends a restructuring aimed at sustainably strengthening the newspaper's economic model and supporting its growth.
