Appearing on BFM Politique this Sunday, July 19, Éric Coquerel reacted strongly to Bernard Cazeneuve's statements. The former Prime Minister had referred to the far left and the far right as two opposing movements that feed off each other. The LFI (France Unbowed) MP criticized Bernard Cazeneuve for equating the National Rally and La France Insoumise, an equivalence he deemed unacceptable.

A disputed equivalence

For Éric Coquerel, this type of rhetoric benefits the right and the far right. He firmly rejects any comparison between his party and the National Rally (RN). This exchange illustrates the persistent tensions within the French left, between the radical wing embodied by La France Insoumise (LFI) and the social democrats close to the former Prime Minister.

The MP's intervention comes in a political climate marked by debates on alliances on the left. Bernard Cazeneuve's rhetoric, which aims to marginalize the extremes on both sides, clashes with the strategy of La France Insoumise, which rejects this comparison with Marine Le Pen's party.
