Emmanuel Macron has invited 200 economic stakeholders to the Élysée Palace to discuss accelerating the country's electrification. The President intends to apply the "Choose France" approach, which has already attracted international and then French investment to the country, to this new strategic priority. The goal is to reduce dependence on imported hydrocarbons by developing the use of electricity in industry, transportation, and buildings.
10 billion euros in public support
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu announced from Matignon a doubling of support for the electrification of energy uses. The budget allocation increases from €5,5 billion to €10 billion per year. This increase aims to support the energy transition of businesses and strengthen France's energy independence in the face of fluctuations in the global hydrocarbon market.
This strategy addresses persistent tensions in energy markets. Large-scale electrification is a key lever for securing the national energy supply while respecting France's climate commitments. The 200 participating stakeholders will be required to make concrete commitments to investment projects that will enable them to transition their activities to low-carbon electricity.
