The contrast is striking this Sunday with a dramatic drop in temperatures across the east and south of the country. After highs of 25°C the previous day, thermometers struggled to rise above 10°C from Lyon to Strasbourg under a rainy sky. This sharp decline is due to the passage of an active weather system bringing rain and significantly cooler air to a large part of the country.
Another notable event: the return of snow to the mountains. It is falling from 800 to 1200 meters in the Pyrenees and the Massif Central, and between 1600 and 2300 meters in the Alps and the Jura Mountains. A radical change after several almost summery days, forcing people to bring out their winter clothing again in some regions.
In the southeast, the weather continues to deteriorate with some rain, particularly in Languedoc-Roussillon, but no risk of a Mediterranean episode. Conversely, the west sees sunny spells after a disturbed Saturday, although a few showers may still pass through, especially in Brittany.
