It created a buzz, but it didn't stay online for long... The report broadcast on TF1 this weekend in Seven to Eight, dedicated a romantic scam to fake Brad Pitt, has just been removed from the channel's replay. This topic related the story ofAnne, a woman in her fifties, swindled out of 830 euros by individuals pretending to be the actor Brad Pitt.
The scammers used fake selfies, forged identity documents and artificial intelligence techniques to convince Anne that their identities were real. They used the pretext of urgent financial needs, including an alleged kidney cancer operation, to extort money from her. This led to Anne to ruin and serious depression, leading three suicide attempts. She has since filed a complaint and is currently hospitalized in a specialized establishment.
Problem: After the report was broadcast, Anne has been the target of cyberbullying and mockery on social media because of his gullibility. For example, Toulouse Football Club published an ironic message about X, before apologizing to the critics. Similarly, Netflix France posted a message mentioning films with Brad Pitt…
Faced with this wave of mockery, TF1 announced that it had removed the report from all its platforms to protect the victim. The show stated on its X account: "The report broadcast this Sunday sparked a wave of harassment against a witness. For the protection of the victims, we have decided to remove it from our platforms."
