Caroline Darian, daughter of the couple Dominique et Gisele Pelicot, is currently participating in a documentary dedicated to rapes of Mazan and the phenomenon of chemical submission, confirmed France Télévisions.
Entitled “Chemical submission, let shame change sides”, this project directed by Linda Bendali and produced by CAPA will soon be broadcast on public service.
The film gives voice to several victims, including Gisele Pelicot. Caroline Darian, who also claims to have been drugged and abused by her father Dominique Pélicot, gives her testimony. Already heard at the opening of the trial which began on September 2, Caroline – known by her pen name after the publication of her book “And I stopped calling you dad.” – said she was “trying to rebuild herself,” describing her life as “on hold for four years.”
The Mazan rape trial, which has received a lot of international media coverage, is coming to an end before the Vaucluse criminal court. During the final arguments, the defence team for the accused sought to distance itself from the "tornado" surrounding the case and the societal debates on gender relations.
In contrast, the prosecution, in a closing argument presented on Wednesday, urged jurors to return a verdict that brings "hope" to victims of sexual violence, stressing the importance of a strong message for the future.
