French furniture manufacturer Parisot Industrie, based in the Vosges and Haute-Saône regions, is preparing to file for receivership. The company, which employs approximately 400 people, is experiencing another period of severe financial difficulties, according to information revealed Wednesday by AFP.
According to the CGT and the group's shareholder, P3G, this decision comes in a context marked by the collapse of the furniture market, rising production costs and an unfavorable economic situation that weighs on the entire furniture sector.
The furniture sector is under pressure
Founded in 1936 and specializing in flat-pack furniture, the company, based in Saint-Loup-sur-Semouse, is one of the historical players in the French furniture industry. The group has already experienced several periods of financial difficulty over the past decade, including a safeguard procedure in 2012 and then receivership in 2019 before being acquired by its current shareholder.
This new procedure aims to allow the company to continue its operations while it seeks restructuring solutions. The future of the production sites and the hundreds of jobs at stake is now causing serious concern among employees and union representatives, as the French furniture market continues to suffer from the slowdown in household consumption.
