Heineken has eliminated approximately 3,000 jobs in the first half of 2026 as part of its extensive restructuring plan. The world's second-largest brewer, after AB InBev, presents this workforce reduction as a major step in its internal transformation aimed at increasing productivity and achieving significant cost savings.
The Dutch group, which now employs nearly 85,000 people worldwide, announced in February the elimination of 5,000 to 6,000 jobs over two years. According to its chief financial officer, Harold van den Broek, this reorganization affects the entire company and is not based on specific targets imposed on certain regions.
Financial results are improving
These job cuts come as Heineken's net profit rose 10,2% in the first half of the year, reaching €1,26 billion compared to €1,16 billion a year earlier. Total beverage volumes sold also increased by 1,6%, to 142,8 million hectoliters, thanks to strong performance in Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East. However, beer sales alone declined slightly by 0,1%.
Heineken is maintaining its full-year targets and forecasts growth of between 2% and 6% in its adjusted operating profit. The group remains cautious, however, in the face of economic and geopolitical uncertainties. Meanwhile, a new leadership team will take office on October 1st, when Brazilian Rafael Oliveira succeeds Dolf van den Brink as CEO.
