Robert Ménard reappointed as head of the Béziers Méditerranée Agglomeration

Robert Ménard was re-elected president of the Béziers Méditerranée Agglomeration Community at the inaugural community council meeting held at the Zinga Zanga hall in Béziers. He received 39 votes, while 15 blank ballots were counted.

This re-election immediately extends his victory in the Béziers municipal elections, which he won decisively in the first round on March 15th. Robert Ménard garnered 65,60% of the votes cast, far ahead of Thierry Mathieu (15,24%) and the National Rally list led by Julien Gabarron (8,97%). This landslide municipal victory secured him a significant role within the inter-municipal council.

A logical re-election

The outcome of this election left little room for doubt. The vote primarily confirmed the political balance established in the municipal elections in the region's main city. Robert Ménard's victory in Béziers had guaranteed him 24 seats on the metropolitan council, giving him a very comfortable lead even before the election of the metropolitan area president.

A key vote for the 2026-2032 term

The election of the president of the metropolitan area was one of the highlights of the inaugural community council meeting. The agenda and the meeting's convening had been announced by the metropolitan area itself, which had scheduled the meeting for 6:00 PM in the Zinga Zanga room. This vote officially opens the new inter-municipal term, tasked with managing major projects shared by the member municipalities.

A territory of 17 municipalities under renewed governance

As a reminder, the Béziers Méditerranée Agglomeration comprises 17 municipalities in the Béziers region. Its executive body is responsible for key areas such as the economy, water and sanitation, waste management, transportation, urban planning, housing, culture, and tourism. The reappointment of Robert Ménard therefore reinforces political continuity at the head of this central institutional body for the region.

A dual municipal and inter-municipal legitimacy

Already mayor of Béziers since 2014, Robert Ménard has achieved another political success this spring of 2026: a resounding re-election to the mayoralty, followed less than a month later by his reappointment as president of the metropolitan area. At the local level, this double endorsement strengthens his political hold on the city center and the inter-municipal council. All this thanks to sound management and the complete satisfaction of his constituents.
