Presidential election 2027: Yaël Braun-Pivet criticizes a political scene dominated by men

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, denounced on Tuesday the increasing number of male candidates for the 2027 presidential election, referring to a "club of machos" who declare their candidacy "almost daily." She believes this trend does not reflect the country's expectations or the reality of its population.

She noted in particular that, among the figures from or close to the majority, the declared or anticipated candidates for the election are all men, citing several political figures. She considers this situation problematic given that French society is composed of equal numbers of women and men.

A critique of the individual leadership model

Beyond the issue of representation, Yaël Braun-Pivet also challenged the idea of a leader capable of single-handedly resolving the country's difficulties. She stated that she did not believe in the figure of a "supreme savior," advocating instead for a collective approach and the shared development of a political project.

When asked about her own intentions, the Speaker of the National Assembly did not rule out a possible candidacy, while specifying that the time was not yet right to make a decision. She emphasized the need to assemble diverse teams to work towards a shared vision for France.
