Presidential election 2027: Jordan Bardella promises a "national unity" government in the event of a National Rally victory

The president of the National Rally, Jordan Bardella, says he wants to broaden his future majority should his party win the 2027 presidential election. In an interview with Le Figaro, he explains that he wants to form a "government of national unity" that would not be composed solely of National Rally officials, while reaffirming his support for the candidacy of Marine Le Pen.

Designated to become Prime Minister should the National Rally candidate win the election, Jordan Bardella outlines the three missions he has set for himself: to develop the presidential platform, to prepare a future government team, and to lead his party to a majority in the National Assembly. According to him, the goal is to unite the party beyond the ranks of the National Rally alone.

A hand extended to the right

The MEP believes that a significant portion of the traditional right-wing electorate is currently without genuine leadership. He states his intention to open his future government to figures from outside the National Rally, convinced that many elected officials and leaders on the right could join his project.

Jordan Bardella believes, in particular, that the president of the Republicans, Bruno Retailleau, will eventually align himself with Édouard Philippe, the Horizons candidate in the presidential election. He sees this development as an opportunity to appeal to right-wing voters disillusioned with traditional parties.

Bardella shows his support for Marine Le Pen

When questioned about withdrawing from the presidential race in favor of Marine Le Pen, Jordan Bardella rejected any suggestion of frustration. He asserted that he felt "no disappointment" after the decision by the leader of the National Rally group to maintain her candidacy for the Élysée Palace despite her conviction on appeal in the European parliamentary assistants case.

Marine Le Pen has appealed to the Court of Cassation, a move that suspends the execution of her sentence. The National Rally (RN) is thus pursuing its strategy for 2027 with a declared tandem: Marine Le Pen for the presidential election and Jordan Bardella as the candidate for Prime Minister should they win.
