Jean-Luc Mélenchon Mélenchon took advantage of the popular festival organized on Tuesday, July 14th, by La France Insoumise MP Mathilde Hignet in Paimpont, Ille-et-Vilaine, to hold a rally before several hundred supporters. A surprise guest at this event held in the heart of the Brocéliande forest, the declared candidate for the 2027 presidential election reunited with activists already focused on the campaign. In a packed hall despite the heat, participants sported "Mélenchon 27" t-shirts and displayed their confidence in their candidate's chances.
For the activists present, the momentum is clearly in favor of the leader of La France Insoumise. Several of them believe that the campaign is now fully underway, with poster campaigns, leaflet distribution, and public meetings. The latest polls, which place Jean-Luc Mélenchon at the top of the left-wing candidates, reinforce their optimism about qualifying for the second round.
Activists convinced of a qualification for the second round
Supporters of La France Insoumise point out that Jean-Luc Mélenchon narrowly missed reaching the second round of the 2022 presidential election. They believe that opinion polls have consistently underestimated the electoral strength of La France Insoumise and see current voting intentions as an encouraging sign for the 2027 election. Several activists say they are convinced that this time, their candidate will make it past the first round.
However, polls show Jean-Luc Mélenchon losing in a potential duel against Marine Le Pen do not seem to have shaken their confidence. The activists encountered in Paimpont believe that the campaign is only just beginning and that the balance of power could still change before the presidential election.
