The rapid development of artificial intelligence is causing serious concern about the job market in France. According to several analyses, up to 5 million employees could see their jobs directly threatened or profoundly transformed by this technology in the coming years, due to the increasing automation of tasks.
AI is not only replacing industrial jobs, but is now impacting skilled positions, particularly in services, administration, and intellectual professions. Many repetitive or analytical tasks can be partially or fully automated, accelerating job transformation rather than their immediate disappearance.
A transformation of work rather than a mass disappearance
While the risk of job losses exists, experts emphasize a more nuanced reality: the majority of jobs will be transformed rather than eliminated. Globally, up to 90% of jobs could be impacted in some way by AI, which implies a rapid adaptation of skills and organizations.
This shift is already visible in companies. Some layoffs are attributed to automation, although some are more a matter of restructuring strategies than actual replacement by AI.
Beyond the economic implications, this evolution also raises social and psychological questions. The increasing use of AI is changing professional practices, sometimes blurring the perception of individual work, and forcing both employees and employers to rethink their roles in an increasingly automated environment.
