Elon Musk: "Marine Le Pen is France's last hope"

Elon Musk has publicly taken a stand in favor of Marine Le Pen in the race for the 2027 presidential election. The American billionaire, owner of the social network X, presented the National Rally candidate as "France's last hope", triggering strong reactions in the French political class.

A direct response published on X

Elon Musk did not write the lengthy message about Marine Le Pen himself. He was responding to a post from an American account claiming that voting intentions for the National Rally candidate had increased significantly since the 2022 presidential election.

The initial message compared the results of the first round of 2022, during which Emmanuel Macron had obtained 27,85% of the votes and Marine Le Pen 23,15%, with the latest surveys devoted to the 2027 election. Its author also claimed that France could expel several million people in the event of a victory for the candidate.

Elon Musk responded with a single sentence in English: “She is France’s last hope”i.e "She is France's last hope."He did not elaborate on his position and did not directly comment on the claims about expulsions contained in the original publication.

Marine Le Pen is far ahead in voting intentions

The billionaire's stance comes as Marine Le Pen dominates several polls dedicated to the 2027 presidential election. A study published on July 11 credits her with 34% to 35,5% in the first round depending on the candidates tested, an increase of three points since March 2026.

Édouard Philippe would obtain between 16,5% and 19%, while Jean-Luc Mélenchon She would receive between 14,5% and 16% of the vote. Gabriel Attal would receive between 13,5% and 15,5%. These figures place Marine Le Pen well ahead of her main rivals, but they represent a snapshot of voting intentions and not a prediction of the final result.

The same survey predicts she will win in all the second-round contests studied. She would receive 52% against Édouard Philippe, 54% against Gabriel Attal, 56% against Bruno Retailleau, 58,5% against Raphaël Glucksmann, and 67,5% against Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

Marine Le Pen has confirmed her candidacy for 2027

Marine Le Pen officially announced her candidacy for the presidential election following the appeals court's decision in the case of the National Front's European parliamentary assistants. The court upheld her conviction for misuse of public funds, while reducing her period of ineligibility for public office.

The fixed term of this ineligibility having already been served, the MP for Pas-de-Calais can currently stand in the 2027 election. She has also announced an appeal to the Court of Cassation and launched her campaign website.

"Tonight, I am a candidate in the presidential election. The French people will have the final say."she had declared after the court decision. She then asserted that there was "no longer any scenario" in which she would withdraw from the race.

Elon Musk is making numerous political statements

Elon Musk had already supported Donald Trump in the United States and actively participated in its campaign. He had also committed himself to the German party Alternative für Deutschland, the AfD, stating that this party was the only one capable of "Save Germany."

His message in support of Marine Le Pen now marks her public entry into the French presidential campaign. Less than a year before the first round scheduled for April 2027, the National Rally candidate thus benefits from the explicit support of one of the most followed personalities in the world on social media.
