Before the internship for the second-year students, Édouard Geffray reminds them of the safety rules

Just days before the start of the mandatory two-week internship for tenth-grade students, the Minister of National Education, Édouard Geffray, emphasized the strictly educational purpose of this program. Speaking after several fatal accidents involving high school students in companies in recent months, he reiterated that these immersion periods must under no circumstances expose young people to dangerous situations.

The minister indicated that he had sent a letter to all school principals to reinforce student awareness before they begin their work placements. The aim is to remind them that these placements are primarily intended to introduce students to a profession, a sector of activity, or how a company operates.

An immersion limited to observation

The students involved will begin their internships on Monday. Implemented nationwide, this program aims to help high school students refine their career plans and gain a better understanding of the world of work before making the choices that await them in higher education.

Édouard Geffray emphasized that companies hosting high school sophomores must adhere to the framework established by the Ministry of Education. Specifically, students cannot be assigned tasks that pose a risk to their safety or health. The Ministry aims to prevent these observation placements from becoming practical work periods that could expose young people to accidents.
