The future CEO of Japanese carmaker Nissan has said he is determined to speed up decision-making to launch new models on the market.
Mexican Ivan Espinosa, who has been head of product planning at Nissan for two decades, said Wednesday that Nissan's corporate culture lacks empathy and needs to evolve.
Speaking from Nissan's technical center in Atsugi, outside Tokyo, he said:
« We must work together as a team ", according to the German press agency dpa.
Espinosa was recently appointed CEO of Nissan, a position he will hold starting April 1, succeeding Makoto Uchida.
Uchida, who has been in office since 2019, resigned after the company forecast losses for the fiscal year ending in March of this year.
Espinosa said he was open to partnerships, including with players outside the automotive sector, although he did not specify which ones.
Nissan recently ended talks with Japanese rival Honda Motor regarding the creation of a joint holding company, but the two companies will continue to cooperate on technology development.
To demonstrate its recovery strategy, Nissan unveiled a series of new models to be launched over the next two years in the United States, Europe, Japan and other regions.
