OPEC+ further increases its production quotas amid the crisis surrounding Hormuz

The OPEC+ alliance has announced a further increase in its oil production targets, the fourth consecutive increase in four months, as geopolitical tensions continue to severely disrupt global energy flows.

The group's members agreed to increase their production by 188,000 barrels per day starting in July. This decision is in line with the gradual adjustments adopted since the spring, despite a context marked by significant instability in the Middle East.

This situation is largely linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic point for global oil transport, which has caused a major disruption to exports for several producing countries. According to the group's data, however, actual production remains well below targets due to persistent logistical and security constraints.

Some member states, particularly in the Gulf, continue to face difficulties in transporting their oil to international markets. The crisis has also exacerbated internal tensions within the alliance, with successive adjustments to quotas to reflect actual production capacities.

At the same time, the situation is impacting the overall balance of the energy market. Fluctuations in supply are fueling significant price volatility, while investors remain attentive to any developments in the military and diplomatic situation in the region.

Despite these turbulences, OPEC+ affirms its intention to maintain its overall strategy unchanged until the end of the year, while continuing to assess the production capacities of its members in an environment deemed particularly unstable.
