Consumer prices in Colombia rose by 0,78% in April 2026, according to data published by the national statistics agency DANE. Year-on-year inflation now stands at 5,68%, a level slightly higher than analysts' expectations.

Economists polled by Reuters had forecast a monthly increase of 0,73% and annual inflation of around 5,63%. The April figure also marks a slight acceleration compared to the 5,56% recorded in March.

Despite the gradual slowdown observed in recent months, inflation remains well above the target set by the Colombian central bank, which aims for a rate of 3%, with a tolerance margin of one point.

The main price increases were in food and soft drinks, housing-related services, and transportation. Conversely, the information and telecommunications sector saw a slight decrease in prices.

Earlier this week, the central bank's technical teams slightly raised their 2026 forecast, now anticipating inflation of 6,4% by the end of the year. However, they maintained their forecast of a slowdown to 3,7% in 2027.
