Three candidates have submitted bids to take over Duralex, which is currently under court-ordered administration. The deadline, initially set for August 6, has been extended to September 11 to allow for the submission of any additional offers.
The identities of the three candidates have not been officially released. Entrepreneur Cédric Meston, co-founder of the plant-based food company HappyVore and the buyer of Tupperware France in 2025, is reportedly among them. The Carlesimo Group, specializing in foundries, had also announced its intention to submit a bid.
A fifth receivership in twenty years
The Orléans commercial court will examine the various takeover proposals at a hearing scheduled for September 17. Candidates will notably have to specify their commitments regarding the retention of the 243 employees working at the La Chapelle-Saint-Mesmin site in the Loiret region.
Founded in 1945 and known for its supposedly unbreakable glasses, Duralex had been taken over by its employees in the form of a cooperative company in 2024. The company was nevertheless placed back into receivership on June 1, 2026, for the fifth time in just over twenty years.
