The average price of a liter of SP95-E10 fell back to €1,98 on Friday, August 7, returning to a level below the symbolic threshold of €4. It was still at €2,01 on Wednesday, according to data submitted to the government by more than 000 service stations.
Fuel prices had crossed this threshold on July 20, driven by tensions between the United States and Iran and their impact on oil prices. Since the start of the war in the Middle East, pump prices have fluctuated significantly in response to diplomatic and military announcements.
Diesel remains at a high level
The average price of diesel is still €2,18 per liter, despite a five-cent drop since Wednesday. SP98 also remains above €2, with an average price of €2,07 per liter, compared to €2,09 two days earlier.
This easing of tensions comes after Saudi Arabia, Russia, and five other OPEC+ members decided to increase their production quotas in September. However, price developments will remain dependent on the geopolitical situation and fluctuations in crude oil prices.
