A father and son lost their lives on Saturday, September 5, 2026, in a fatal accident on the A3 motorway in Seine- Saint-Denis . Their Lamborghini Aventador collided with a Volkswagen around 11:00 AM, between Romainville and Montreuil, in the Paris -bound direction. The sports car caught fire after the impact.

A Lamborghini destroyed and in flames, a Volkswagen upside down
Videos filmed by witnesses after the accident show the green Lamborghini largely destroyed, embedded in a guardrail and engulfed in flames. The Volkswagen, meanwhile, came to rest on its roof. These images circulated on social media in the hours following the collision.
An off-duty police officer, who happened to be on the highway, attempted to rescue the occupants of the sports car. Firefighters were also called to the scene, but the father and son could not be saved.
The prosecutor's office suggests that the driver was speeding.
According to initial reports from the Bobigny prosecutor's office, the Lamborghini was traveling "above" the speed limit. The precise circumstances of the collision, however, remain to be established: investigators must determine what caused the impact between the two vehicles. The investigation opened by the prosecutor's office has been entrusted to the North Île-de-France Highway Patrol (CRS).
Two lanes closed, traffic restored in the afternoon
Following the accident, two lanes of the A3 motorway were temporarily closed to traffic. Traffic was able to resume in the late afternoon, as indicated on the website of the Île-de-France road authority.
