One Piece is coming to the Grévin Museum with a brand new space dedicated to the cult manga

The most famous pirate crew has dropped anchor in Paris. Starting this Friday, June 26, the Grévin Museum is inaugurating a space entirely dedicated to One Piece, a first for the institution. Visitors will be able to find the ten members of the Straw Hat crew in an immersive setting inspired by a Parisian cabaret, further confirming the manga's place among the major references of popular culture.

Characters created in Japan within an immersive setting

Spanning over 80 square meters, Monkey D. Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, Sanji, Nami, and the other heroes of the saga come to life in life-size statues. Unlike the museum's usual figures, these characters weren't made of wax: they were entirely handcrafted in Japan and dressed in real fabric clothing. The setting, designed by the Grévin Museum in collaboration with Toei Animation, immerses visitors in a luminous and musical atmosphere created to recreate the festive world of the series.

Created by Eiichiro Oda in 1997 and adapted into an anime by Toei Animation two years later, One Piece has become the best-selling manga in the world with over 600 million copies sold. The anime series has now surpassed 1,160 episodes.

Recognition for a global phenomenon

This installation also marks the arrival of the first characters from Japanese animation at the Grévin Museum. When interviewed by AFP, Akira Yamaguchi, Vice President of Toei Animation Europe, expressed her delight at seeing One Piece featured in such an iconic location, considering it a “great recognition” of its international reach. The museum's director, Yves Delhommeau, also told AFP that the younger generation's enthusiasm for manga is evident, while noting that its famous flag has recently become a symbol used in numerous demonstrations around the world.

To accompany this opening, an exclusive promotional card for the One Piece Card Game, specially illustrated for this collaboration, will be offered to the first 50,000 visitors with an entry ticket.
