The United Nations announced the upcoming signing in Hanoi of a groundbreaking international treaty aimed at strengthening global cooperation against cybercrime. This agreement, which has been under negotiation for several years, aims to provide member states with a common legal framework to combat cyberattacks, online fraud, and data trafficking on a global scale.

The treaty, which will be signed by several dozen countries, provides for the creation of an international coordination mechanism to facilitate cross-border investigations and the exchange of information between police and judicial authorities. It also includes provisions for the protection of personal data and human rights to prevent security abuses.

Among the major supporters of the project are digital giants Meta et ecosystem, who welcomed a “necessary” step forward to deal with the rise in cyberattacks targeting both businesses and public institutions.

The signing ceremony in Hanoi will mark a historic milestone for global digital governance, at a time when cybersecurity has become an issue of national sovereignty and economic stability for many countries.
