The date is set: on Friday, April 11, La Grande Dictée is coming to the Petit Palais for a highly anticipated new edition, as part of the Paris Book Festival. The event, now a must-see for lovers of the French language, is already sold out. More than 700 participants from all walks of life have reserved their places to tackle the subtleties of French spelling through three original texts. This year's focus is on a maritime theme chosen to echo the Year of the Sea. The excerpts submitted to the candidates were written by Emma Green, Leïla Slimani, and Tatiana de Rosnay.
A playful and televised celebration of French
Presented by Augustin Trapenard and Rachid Santaki, La Grande Dictée will be broadcast on France 5 and france.tv. Three sessions will be organized throughout the afternoon, with increasing levels of difficulty, allowing everyone to rise to the challenge according to their comfort with the language. Far from being a simple academic exercise, this dictation is above all intended to be a moment of pleasure, play, and sharing around words. In a prestigious setting, it celebrates both the beauty of French and the vitality of contemporary literature.
