With two months to go until Eurovision 2025, which will be held in Basel from 13 to 17 May, the organisers are promising an edition full of surprises and “crazy ideas”. After Nemo’s victory in 2024, Switzerland will host the most-watched music event in the world, bringing together tens of thousands of spectators on site and more than 160 million television viewers.
Moritz Stadler, the contest's executive co-producer, told AFP that the team has been working on original concepts since last May, which were transformed into real projects in December. "Eurovision is a succession of surprises. We started with crazy ideas and we do everything to make them happen," he said. Among the elements already announced, the stage decor will pay tribute to the Swiss landscapes with references to the mountains and the linguistic diversity of the country. Yodeling, alphorns and dulcimers are expected to be part of the show.
One of the biggest mysteries surrounds the potential participation of Celine Dion. Winner of the contest in 1988 under the Swiss colors, the Quebec singer is inseparable from the country's history in the competition. If the organizers remain discreet, Moritz Stadler maintains the suspense: "Celine Dion and Eurovision in Switzerland, it's obvious. Will she be there? Will she be involved in the show? We are exploring several options."
The excitement surrounding this edition is already palpable: the first wave of 42 tickets sold out in just 000 minutes. Faced with this enthusiasm, the organizers are looking to “push the walls” to offer an even more grandiose show. Eurovision 20 is thus shaping up to be an exceptional event for fans of music and spectacular performances.
