The World Cup didn't need this, but the internet did. Just hours before the match between Brazil and Scotland in Miami, a Brazilian psychic known as Vó Bahiana claimed that an alien invasion would disrupt the game, complete with a giant UFO, widespread panic, and the abduction of football stars.

According to her prediction, a spaceship would appear during the match and players would be abducted before the eyes of the crowd. In the scenario, Neymar and Vinícius Júnior are among the names most frequently mentioned. The psychic also describes a scene with hundreds of people being snatched up by aliens in the stadium.

24 million subscribers and zero proof

Vó Bahiana is no stranger to this kind of thing. Followed by millions on Instagram, she has built an audience around visions, predictions, and mystical content. This time, her announcement has transcended the usual folklore to become an international viral sensation, because it ticks all the boxes for the perfect absurdity: football, Brazil, Neymar, the World Cup, UFOs, and a live disaster.

In fact, there is obviously no evidence to support an alien invasion, nor any specific threat related to the match. We're talking about a sensationalist statement, amplified because it's absurd, anxiety-inducing, and tailor-made for social media. The kind of prophecy that only survives because it's too ludicrous to go unnoticed.

The fortune teller sees big, very big

In her prediction, Vó Bahiana claims to have seen the scene in a dream. The spaceship would descend toward the stadium, creatures would appear, and then the match would descend into chaos. Some versions of the story mention up to several hundred abductions from the crowd and the pitch. Where others are content to predict a goal, an injury, or an elimination, she has thus chosen the prime-time apocalypse option.

The internet loves it, reality is waiting its turn.

The prediction predictably triggered a wave of mockery, memes, and incredulous comments. World football has already seen its share of refereeing controversies, pitch invasions, weather disruptions, and organizational fiascos. The alien abduction of Neymar and Vinícius, however, remains, for now, in the realm of scenarios best left to parody accounts.

Verdict: the day's visionary has found her media sensation

Vó Bahiana has certainly succeeded in its aim: no one is talking about tactics, pressing or duels in the middle, but about a vessel intended to interrupt Brazil-Scotland.

Now all that remains is the easiest thing to verify. If Brazil finishes the match with its players on the pitch, its stars in the mixed zone, and no reptilians in the stands, then the alien invasion can join the great museum of viral panics. Until the next crazy event of the day.
