Kylian Mbappé reacted on Monday evening to the racist remarks made by Celeste AmarillaParaguayan senator, after Paraguay's elimination against France in the round of 16 of the World Cup. Targeted personally after the French team's victory, the captain of the French national team responded firmly, denouncing the elected official's racism and the disastrous image conveyed by her messages.
Racist remarks after Paraguay's elimination
As a reminder, Celeste Amarilla attacked Mbappé in posts on X, notably saying that Mbappé "She was suckling coconuts."
The French national team striker then replied:
“Madame Celeste Amarilla,
You are a woman meprisable and indigne of the function.
You do not represent Paraguay, a country that exuded passion and honor throughout the competition. Through your recklessness and blatant racism, the world has already forgotten the journey and historic effort your players made during this World Cup, replaced by an incompetent woman who presents the worst possible image of her country.
I will never allow people like her the freedom to spread their hatred and racism throughout the world.
