"He was sucking on coconuts": the infamous remarks of a Paraguayan senator against Mbappé

After France's elimination of Paraguay In the round of 16 of the World Cup, Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla targeted Kylian Mbappé in several posts on X. The captain of Les Bleus, who scored in the French 1-0 victory, was targeted after a clash with Paraguayan goalkeeper Orlando Gill at the final whistle.

Gill's gesture, Mbappé's refusal, then the insults

As a reminder, at the end of the match, Orlando Gill tried to shake Kylian Mbappé's hand. The French striker ignored him. The Paraguayan goalkeeper then threw the ball behind himbefore later explaining that he had acted in the heat of the moment.

Following this, Celeste Amarilla published an initial message directly targeting Mbappé, which was utterly vile and racist: "That brute never even learned to write. Instead of breast milk, he suckled on coconuts, and the most educated beings he ever heard were chimpanzees. You should have given him the finger, Orlando Gill. I do it in the Senate and nothing happens!"

A second despicable publication

The Paraguayan senator then continued with another attack targeting Kylian Mbappé's supposed French origin and nationality: “A colonized Cameroonian, pretending to be French, resentful, nouveau riche, arrogant, and ugly. He was nervous and terrified throughout the entire match, like his whole team. They didn't even manage to score a single goal; they won by sheer luck…”

She also criticized the Paraguayan players for not hitting Mbappé at the end of the match, regretting that they hadn't given him "A full-handed slap."

France condemns remarks "abject"

Another controversy surrounding France-Paraguay

This incident prolongs the tension surrounding this round of 16 match, marked by a rough game, clashes, and strong criticism of Paraguay's attitude.
